Recurrent patellar dislocation

In this video

  • It contrasts recurrent dislocation with a single traumatic dislocation, where the kneecap suddenly jumps out after an injury.
  • The video says there is rarely just one cause: bone alignment differences, looseness of the ligaments or muscle imbalance, often several together.
  • It says treatment begins with identifying why the kneecap is unstable, not simply that it is unstable.
  • It says some people benefit from physiotherapy focused on muscle control and tracking, and others may need surgical procedures if structural factors contribute significantly.
