Dr. Sean Leo is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee care, with a focus on ACL reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair, and knee replacement. He received a military scholarship to study medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from the Singapore Armed Forces in 1994. After graduating, he served in the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Corps from 2000 to 2012, where he treated professional soldiers in high-demand vocations. This experience exposed him to the latest programs in human performance optimization, surgical techniques, and rehabilitation programs, which he incorporates into his practice.

Dr. Sean Leo completed his speciality training in orthopaedics and Trauma in 2009 and thereafter pursued a one-year clinical fellowship at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he refined his knowledge in joint regeneration and repair techniques.
During his fellowship, he served as a team physician for the Gordon Rugby Football Club in Chatswood, Sydney, providing medical coverage for athletes in the New South Wales Rugby Union League and furthering his expertise in sports-related knee injuries.
Dr. Sean Leo previously held the position of Senior Consultant and Director of Hip and Knee Service at Changi General Hospital (2014-2018), where he was involved in the application of advanced surgical technologies, including computer navigation and robotic-assisted surgery, in hip and knee treatments.
During his 12 year of service in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Medical Corps, Dr. Sean Leo contributed to medical policy development, operational planning, and overseas humanitarian missions. His experience in treating soldiers in physically demanding roles enhanced his understanding of knee injury management and orthopaedic trauma care.
Dr. Sean Leo is actively involved in medical education and trains young doctors at both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU), contributing to the advancement of orthopaedic medicine. From 2012 to 2017, he served as a clinical tutor and was a faculty member of the Singhealth Orthopaedic Residency Program, mentoring future orthopaedic specialists. He was recognized with the NUS Special Recognition Award for his role in mentoring medical students.
Dr. Sean Leo remains deeply committed to guiding the next generation of doctors. Each June, he offers a two-week mentorship and clinical observation program for selected pre-university students with a passion for medicine. Participants get a unique, behind-the-scenes look at Dr. Sean’s work as an orthopaedic surgeon and gain valuable insight into the mindset, dedication, and sense of purpose it takes to pursue a career in healthcare.
